Hey! I’m Karan

I’m a Mumbai-based photographer who pushes the boundaries of photography through creative and sui generis perspectives. “We are what we repeatedly do,” someone said. I watch, I observe, and there comes the shutter sound.

Being a sunset person and also a mountain lover, I have a lot on my interest palette. A long drive could either inspire me to capture the best photographs or call it a camping vacation. I’ve always been a person who loves being called a “holiday maker” or “nature lover” instead. I, as a documentary photographer, have always had my hands full capturing the best unseen moments. Laughter and tears could be the most abstract thing to be reminisced about amongst a gathering. That’s where the best “raw stories” take place. And those stories begin with “Raw Stories by Karan Shetty.”

What started off as a passion after watching the movie “Wake Up Sid,” I never even in my wildest dreams thought that photography would follow me this far. At 19, I began my career as an assistant film still photographer. I started my commercial career with advertising and brand photography. Later, incidentally, I was suggested by one of my friends to shoot his wedding. As it’s been like expecting the unexpected, the wedding was the raise in my career along with the commercial ones. The thing that evokes me to capture emotions and moments is my unending passion for photography, which makes me more and more attracted to the natural beauty we see in our daily lives. At present, I’ve captured numerous “raw stories” with the same authenticity.
